Make/Believe UK Design For Performance

Above: the exhibition at the V&A.

Since returning home after a summer of travelling between projects, I'm starting to look back over the projects that I've been involved with; surely one of the biggest was the Society of British Theatre Designer's national exhibition 'Make/Believe UK Design for Performance'.
I first started work on this last November, helping to edit the catalogue, and since then it has gone from an epic exhibition in Nottingham, to a projection mapped, virtual display in Prague, for the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, to it's current format in the V&A Museum.

Parts of the projected exhibition in Prague.

The exhibition at the V&A is on until January in the Theatre and Performance Galleries, so do have a look.

Not The End Of The World

Here are some of the production photographs for 'Not The End Of The World' that was at The Barbican, Plymouth last August with YMT. Based on the novel by Geraldin McCaughrean, it was adapted and directed by Charlotte Conquest, composed by Sonum Batra, with lyricist Dave Francis.

It's based on the story of Noah's Ark, but told from the perspective of Noah's daughter, who was never mentioned in the Bible.

The Bay Tree Bakery

Last week my Dad's bakery website went live! Local bread, hand made, using flour hand milled in Yorkshire. I designed the logo for the bakery, hand painted with watercolour, then tweaked a bit on photoshop.

The business is starting up in the coming weeks, so do keep your eyes peeled for the bread at local farmer's markets. Keep up with what he's got planned on the website www.thebaytreebakery.co.uk or the facebook page.

Imagining The Future, Leeds 2023

A team of us designed the space for 'Imagining the Future 2023', an open space meeting to discuss the possibility of a European Capital of Culture bid for the city of Leeds. Together with Kizzy Davies, Hannah Wilson, Katie Winter and Carmel Woolmington, we made the city from cardboard in a grand total of 3 days.

The Tongue Twister 2015!

The Tongue Twister at HOME in Manchester as part of Re:play festival 2015.
http://homemcr.org/production/tongue-twister/

There once was a land where rhyming was banned,
If spoken or even a whisper.
And if you were caught you’d soon understand,
Why the bogeyman’s called the Tongue Twister.
But in walks a boy who rhymes all the time,
 Forever speaking in verse.
To rhyme is sublime and should not be a crime,
His tongue is surely a curse!
